Our priorities for Wales 2024-25
We aim to strengthen our collaborative relationships, provide measurable impact and support the transition to Medr over the coming year.

Priority one: seamless support for the transition to Medr
Support Medr, members, and the wider tertiary education sector in Wales with a seamless transition to the new commission.
What good looks like:
- Advocate for the tertiary education sector with Medr, during this period of change
- Explore ‘challenges and opportunities’ reviews with Medr to influence the direction of policy, strategy, digital investment, and research and innovation
- Provide advisory services to Medr through a strategic partnership to support a seamless transition for the tertiary sector.
Priority two: strengthening stakeholder collaborations
Formalise and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders like Universities Wales, Colleges Wales, Qualifications Wales, the L&WI, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and NTfW to ensure a cohesive approach to education and technology.
What good looks like:
- Hold regular roundtable discussions to align strategies and priorities.
- Develop, complete and sign at least three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to formalise collaborative agreements
- Undertake joint ventures on projects that promote digital transformation in education
Priority three: enhancing sector body connections
Solidify Jisc’s partnership with sector groups such as WHELF (Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum) and HEWIT (Higher Education Wales Information Technology), to promote innovative and efficient use of technology in education.
What good looks like:
- Advance completed discretionary fund projects to maximise impact for sector groups
- Provide advice and offer consultancy to sector groups to help them navigate challenges and opportunities
- Explore how AI can enhance digital literacy and infrastructure across member institutions
Priority four: increasing awareness and engagement with Jisc
Increase awareness of, and engagement with, Jisc’s services to enhance the educational and research capabilities of member and non-member organisations.
What good looks like
- Implement a successful communications plan for Wales to promote our products and services to a wider audience
- Maintain successful CSAT scores, improving in areas where needed
- Assess and share our impact, highlighting service benefits, usage statistics, and member stories
Priority five: project activity with measurable impact
Develop and implement Medr-funded projects that have a clear and measurable impact and influence on the tertiary sector.
What good looks like
- Implement project management structures to assess our impact and to measure the effectiveness of projects in real-time
- Deliver projects that serve as benchmarks for best practice and can be scaled across different sectors within tertiary education
- Engage with Medr to gather feedback and refine project execution to ensure they meet the evolving needs of tertiary education and provide value for money.
